It's been known that skateboarding has been predominantly male for a long time and very little room of inclusivity for others. Even though women have been skating since the early days of the sport, it took nearly 20 years before the first major women’s skateboarding competition. Women have to continuously pave their own path into this sport. Hence, I decided to write about Zahra's (a close friend of mine) skateboarding journey. I wanted to use it to inspire others to also break down gender barrier in skateboarding, to bring more women visibility into this sport.
